0.11.2 Update – Bugfixes, Snippets Page Design Update, Hotkeys Changes, Improved Node Docs

The 0.11.2 update of AudioNodes is now out. This is mostly a technical update with general performance improvements to make AudioNodes feel more snappy all-around, and also comes with some bugfixes, changes to hotkeys, improvements to accessing Node docs from AudioNodes, and a new Audio Synths Node category.

Priority Fixes

  • You no longer have to restart AudioNodes to see your own collection of custom Nodes in the Node browser after logging in (instead of the default custom Node collection)

Hotkeys Changes

Added the option to scroll the Timeline and the Piano Roll Node editor using the arrow keys when nothing is selected (this was already an option on the Patcher). Additionally, the +, -, *, / characters are now available when assigning hotkeys.

The update also adds new assignable hotkey options:

ActionHotkeyAvailability
Reset PlaybackCtrlCmd ● SpaceTimeline
Zoom In, Zoom OutCtrlCmd ● + and CtrlCmd ●Patcher & Timeline
Toggle Slice ModeCTimeline
Toggle Lock/UnlockCtrlCmd ● LPiano Roll Node & Timeline
Start/Stop RecordingCtrlCmd ● R Piano Roll Node
Restart Playback From 0CtrlCmd ● Shift ● SpaceTimeline
Move (Selection) To SubpatchCtrlCmd ● M Patcher
Toggle AutoscrollCtrlCmd ● Shift ● CTimeline
Toggle Snap To GridCtrlCmd ● GPiano Roll Node & Timeline

New Audio Synths Category

A subtle but impactful change in this update is a new “Audio Synths” category. This is intended for custom Node-based synths that typically take a MIDI input.

Note: the Audio Synths category does not appear unless you have some custom Nodes added to it. However, you can already choose it when saving custom Nodes yourself, and we’ll also build improved versions of some custom Nodes that already exist and would fit.

Improved Node Docs

To save you a few clicks, most Node settings under properties now have a new, small, unassuming help button that loads up the relevant section from the Node docs:

As part of this change, the documentation of several Nodes has also been revisited and, in many cases, updated, so they should be in a better shape now. This will see continued improvements over time, as usual.

This help shortcut is not yet available for custom Nodes. That will come in a later update.

Misc Changes & Fixes

  • Toggle Param Node now appears on the parent Subpatch Node’s properties panel
  • Undo/redo now displays the Node’s name when undoing/redoing a Node change, and displays the next step to undo/redo

Updated Snippet Page

While not strictly a part of this update, the snippet page also received a bit of an updated design. Here’s how it looks now:
